L. Benjamin Mook was born in Hannibal, Missouri.
He grew up in Palmyra and Hannibal, Missouri, and graduated from Hannibal High School. Ben
attended the University of Missouri-Rolla, where he earned a degree in Geological
Engineering. After graduating from college, Ben worked for an
engineering consulting firm in Jefferson City, Missouri, where he
focused on landfill design and construction oversight and hazardous
waste remediation. In 1997 Ben enrolled in law school at the University
of Missouri-Columbia, and during his first year of law school continued
to work part-time performing construction oversight on a superfund site
in southeast Missouri. Ben was Associate Managing Editor of the
Missouri Law Review, was inducted into the Order of the Barristers, and
was a recipient of the Roscoe Anderson Award for Excellence in
Advocacy. After graduating from law school in 2000, Ben joined
Shook, Hardy & Bacon in Kansas City, Missouri, where he defended propane
manufacturers in litigation nationwide, and practiced in the areas of
business litigation, reinsurance, and construction litigation.
In February 2004,
Ben left Shook, Hardy & Bacon to join his wife, Amanda, in
establishing Mook & Mook, P.C., which opened for business in
late April 2004. Since that time Ben has represented
people who have been injured by defective products, healthcare
provider and
hospital negligence, and workplace accidents, has been
involved in business fraud litigation and litigation with
insurance companies regarding coverage, and has provided
litigation avoidance advice to small businesses.
Amanda Bartlett Mook was born in Kansas
City, Missouri. She grew up in Jefferson City, Hannibal,
and Kansas City, Missouri, and graduated from Hannibal
High School. Amanda attended Grinnell College in Iowa, later
transferring to Southwest Baptist University in Bolivar,
Missouri, where she earned a degree in Elementary Education. Amanda
taught sixth grade in Buffalo, Missouri, for three years prior
to enrolling in law school at the University of Missouri-Columbia.
Amanda was inducted into the Order of the Coif, was Associate
Managing Editor of the Missouri Law Review, and was the
recipient of the Best Production award from the law review.
After graduating from law school, Amanda joined Husch &
Eppenberger in Jefferson City, Missouri, where she focused on
the representation of nursing homes.
Amanda is on the board of the
Good Samaritan Center and the Excelsior Springs Educational
Foundation.
Ben and Amanda have been
married since 1995 and live outside of Excelsior Springs on an old
dairy farm with five dogs, a cat, and two horses.
